EVENING – LECTURE
Building Websites with Drupal
Grimbergen, October 15, 2007 at 18:30h
What have FITCE.be, NASA, NAVO, Hillary Clinton, Second Life, Forbes, Yahoo, CD&V and Studio Brussel in common? They all use an open source 'Content Management System' called Drupal. The author of this CMS which enjoys a phenomenal success is our countryman Dries Buytaert. In fact we should rather call him the prime mover as he initiated the whole idea and by now rallied a crowd of enthusiastic contributors who continually add to and improve the software in the true spirit of such open source like was pioneered by Linux. Drupal was awarded the Webware 100 winner in June 2007.
The evening lecture was presented by Dries Buytaert himself, not only creator of the Drupal CMS but also President of the Drupal Association.
Drupal is software that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a great variety of content on a website. Equipped with a powerful blend of features, Drupal lets you build a variety of websites ranging from personal weblogs, corporate websites and e-commerce websites, to large community-driven websites. The presentation introduced us to Drupal, presented the current status and challenges, and discussed Drupal's future.
Websites using Drupal: Second Life,Fox,Warner Bros, Eclipse, Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Forbes, Die Zeit, Studio Brussel, Aol, Greenpaece, Amnesty International, CD&V, German Playboy, Die Welt, Kom op tegen Kanker, Hillary Clinton, Sony, Playstation, United Nations, MTV, Nato, Nasa, VRT, Keerbergse Golfclub, Yahoo, FITCE.be,…
