EVENING – LECTUREMedia & Telecom Convergence
Evening lecture by Messrs. Dirk Steel (Siemens) and Karl Cuveele (Belgacom)
On March 8, 2007, Media & Telecom Convergence as exemplified in Digital TV was the focus of two lectures followed by demo's. The session drew a crowd of more than 70 to the Belgacom Towers, venue of the event.
The Belgian presentations at the FITCE congress in Athens are repeated for a Belgian audience in two sessions.
On October 5, 2006, we focus on e-Inclusion with an evening session with two reputed speakers, Dr. Paul Timmers, Head of Unit European Commission, DG Information Society and Media, and Mr. Jan Deprest, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FEDICT. FITCE Belgium participates in the event ICT2day by having a booth in the demo zone. Our president, José Van Ooteghem chairs the morning part of the programme of lectures 'ICT Trends & Technologies'.
FITCE Belgium's new initiative 'FITCE.BE Young ICT Personality of the Year' has been a resounding success. FITCE Belgium launched this initiative to stimulate young ICT professionals to present themselves, their ideas and views, and to introduce innovative thinking on a prescribed theme from the world of telecommunications. The candidates could use the opportunity to challenge established ideas, explore change or demonstrate their knowledge. This initiative took the form of a contest .
Evening lecture on Innovation Management. Mr. Thierry Van Landegem, CTO of Alcatel Bell, addresses the success factors that drive Alcatel's innovation engine. Alcatel is a corporation which spent 11% of its 2005 turnover on R&D, illustrating the importance of R&D in the Alcatel strategy.
